Smile with Confidence

A healthy mouth is essential. A bright smile not only makes you look better but feel better too. Our philosophy at Sofia House Dental Care is founded on preventative care. Our aim is to work towards a lifetime of good oral health, which is why we feel it is important to keep you fully informed about your own dental health and the options you have in looking after it.

We have worked hard at building a relaxed friendly atmosphere and we pride ourselves on helping you feel comfortable every time you visit us.

New Patients

Your first appointment will be for an initial examination. Prior to the appointment, you will be asked to complete a medical history questionnaire. At this appointment you will meet your dental surgeon and nurse, after assessing any concerns, a thorough check of your TMJ (jaw joint), oral cancer screening, teeth and gums will be completed. Any necessary radiographs will be taken using digital xrays. Your dental surgeon will then explain his/her findings and discuss and highlight any problem areas. At this point they will also discuss all options for any treatment required and answer any questions. An individual treatment plan will be printed for you and should there be any changes during the course of treatment this will be amended for you. All our dental surgeons are happy to take any phone calls should you have any further questions regarding your treatment.

Younger Patients

We are a family friendly practice and we encourage all parents to bring their children at any early age to help familiarise themselves with the practice and its surroundings. This is essential in building up their confidence.

Nervous Patients

We welcome all patients. It does not matter if you are nervous and it has been sometime since you have visited a dentist. All our dental surgeons and hygienist are very friendly and experienced in dealing with nervous patients. They will take a gentle approach in taking you step by step through your treatment. We also have the facilities for you to listen to music during treatment to help you relax and you are more than welcome to bring in your own CDs.

Should you wish to have your treatment under sedation we are happy to carry out dental treatment under oral sedation (prescriptions provided by your GP). However you would need to come with a friend. There is also the option of being referred to a sedation clinic for intravenous (IV) sedation.

Our aim is to help build up your confidence.

As you would expect all surgery times are by appointment only. To make an appointment, please telephone the surgery. Please be aware that as a courtesy we will call patients the day before their appointment as a gentle reminder but should we not be able to reach you, it is ultimately the patients’ responsibility to remember their appointment. We do provide appointment cards for all appointments booked at the practice.

Emergency Appointments

If you are a patient of the practice and have an emergency, please telephone the practice as early as possible in the morning or leave a message on the answer phone so that we may call you back. We will aim to see you within 24 hours of your first contact but we do try and see you much quicker than that.

Cancellation Policy

Should you need to cancel your appointment we would need a minimum of 24 working hours notice. This allows us to offer appointments to any patients that may need them. We therefore reserve the right to charge for failure to keep an appointment or any cancelled at short notice.
